Read 4 Unity is honored to partner with Refuge Coffee Sweet Auburn to host our pilot Spring 2021 #books4heroes Book Drive event, benefiting Kindezi school Old Fourth Ward!

When: Saturday, February 27th, 2021 (3 time slots: 10-11am, 11-noon, noon-1PM)

Where: Refuge Coffee at 145 Auburn Ave NE Suite A, Atlanta, GA 30303

** Your $5 donation will get you an entrance to the event on Feb 20th, AND will allow us to donate TWO high quality and much needed diverse books (by BIPOC authors!) for Kindezi school Old Fourth Ward.

Our goal is to give Kindezi 200 brand-new diverse (k-5) books!

EVENT DETAILS:

• Arts and crafts (BOOKMARK creation station) and a station for kids and adults who want to write personal notes to our #books4heroes teachers!
• FREE hot cocoa and Read 4 Unity bookish swags for kids!

• Awesome HARDCOVER children’s diverse books are available for sale during the event, and 20% of the proceeds from each book sale will go to Refuge Coffee Sweet Auburn to support their programming, AND Read 4 Unity will donate an extra diverse book to Kindezi School O4W
• A children’s book author, Chanda Austin, will be there for book signing of Qiana’s Braids (you can purchase at the event!)

Read 4 Unity aims to be the bridge that inspires diverse narratives in children’s literature, one book at a time. By collecting and distributing diverse books to carefully identified community partners, together, we can leave lasting marks. Since our inception in July 2020, we have distributed over 1000 books to our community partners, including our own libraries in both Refuge Coffee locations!

Refuge Coffee is a non-profit coffee related one year job training program for resettled refugees and immigrants. Our vision is a more welcoming world, our medium is coffee…we’re more than just good coffee, but a community connector.
